- You Asked...
Weft Hair Extensions are a hugely popular method to add volume quickly but with so many types it may be difficult for you to understand what exactly Weft hair extensions are and how they can work you. So, we are here to help. From learning about Weft Extensions to understanding the different options available to you, we have the answers…
What Are Weft Hair Extensions?
Wefts are a type of hair extension that is perfect if you want your most voluminous hair yet or are dreaming of longer locks. At Additional Lengths, we have a variety of types across our own brand as well as Remi Cachet and as a result, our collection has a varied selection of lengths and weights in multiple shades so you are bound to find your perfect match.
All of the Wefts available are made from 100% human hair so can be styled just like your natural hair… perfect, perfect, perfect.
Something to note is that we do not recommend Wefts if you have very fine hair as these can be described as a bulkier method compared to other hair extensions. If this is you, don't worry, check out “What Are The Best Hair Extensions For Fine Hair?” to find your answers.
What Are The Different Types Of Weft Hair Extensions?
Across Additional Lengths and Remi Cachet Wefts, we have a total of four types:
-
Full Wefts
-
Half Wefts
-
Super Wefts
-
Twin Tabs
Full Wefts are available across Additional Lengths Euro Premium hair range as well as Remi Cachet’s Elegance, Deluxe and Luxury range.
Pros And Cons Of Full Wefts
Pros:
As the width of Full Wefts range between 18” to 48” depending on the length you choose, your stylist does have the flexibility to cut the width to the size that is suitable for you, if required.
Cons:
Compared to other hair extension methods, Wefts, in general, can be described as a bulkier method as they sit in rows. Therefore, these may not be suitable for you if you have very fine hair.
Additional Lengths Full Wefts
Let’s start with the range from our brand… our Euro Premium Wefts are available in an array of colours and you have the option between two lengths, 18” and 22”.
These Wefts use the more traditional machine top weft, unlike some types of Wefts from Remi Cachet. This traditional machine top weft means that your stylist has a number of options to apply.
Available in this collection, you have the choice of two lengths; 18” and 22” as well as 25 colours across our most affordable range.
Remi Cachet Full Wefts
Starting with Elegance, which is the best quality hair we stock, this range is known as “Elegance Full Flat Wefts” which then may lead you to the question “what is a full flat weft?” Basically, the weft tops are the brand’s unique flat top which lies discreetly to the head and combines lace, adhesive, and stitching to avoid return hair and to keep the weft shed free.
Something to keep in mind is that this “full flat weft top” is only available exclusively in the Elegance range.
This range is the newest of the ranges for Remi Cachet and welcomes a “Deluxe Full Weft”. These wefts use the more traditional machine top weft, unlike Elegance so your stylist has an option to apply this in a variety of ways.
Regarding the hair itself, the purpose of this range is to be close to the quality of Elegance hair but with a more affordable price range for you.
In total you have the choice of 18” and 22” lengths and up to 26 of our most popular Elegance colours to choose from, lucky you.
Like Deluxe, Luxury Full Wefts use the more traditional top weft so your stylist has the option to apply this in a variety of ways.
The hair allows you an option of twenty-one colours as well as three lengths; 18”, 22” and 30” across the most affordable range from Remi Cachet.

Half Wefts are available from Remi Cachets Elegance and Luxury hair ranges. These are half the weight of the Full Weft and can be added if you want a voluminous look or to add in a mix of colours.
Our collection of Half Wefts can be suitable for most hair types as your stylist can customise these in line with your hair type, quality etc.
Pros And Cons Of Half Wefts
Pros:
As the approximate width of Elegance and Half Wefts are 12” and Luxury Half Wefts are 20” these are extremely versatile. For example, your stylist will be able to customise your look by mixing and matching colours to create the look you want.
Cons:
Compared to other hair extension methods, Wefts, in general, can be described as a bulkier method as they sit in rows. Therefore, these may not be suitable for you if you have very fine hair.
Remi Cachet Half Wefts
Similarly to Remi Cachet’s collection of Full Wefts, this range is known as “Elegance Half Flat Wefts”, so, as previously discussed, this means that the weft tops use the brand’s unique flat top which lies discreetly to the head and combines lace, adhesive, and stitching to avoid return hair and to keep the weft shed free.
Something to keep in mind is that this “half flat weft top” is only available in the Elegance range.
Across this range of the best quality hair, you have the choice of five lengths ranging from 16” to 24” with the freedom to choose from a gorgeous collection of 55 colours.
Luxury Half Wefts use the more traditional top weft so your stylist has the option to apply this in a variety of ways.
The hair allows you an option of twenty-one colours as well as three lengths; 18”, 22” and 30” throughout the most affordable hair range from Remi Cachet.
Half Weft In Action
This transformation from @lucyshairextensions shows the power of a Half Weft. Just look at the difference a Elegance Half Weft in colour T4-8/613 makes.
Remi Cachet Super Wefts are from the Elegance hair range and allow you to achieve 1.5x the volume of the Elegance Full Wefts due to the density and weight of the hair.
Super Wefts are suitable if you have medium-thickness to very thick hair to manage the density and weight of the Super Weft. Always ask your stylist at your consultation if you are unsure.
Pros And Cons Of Super Wefts
Pros:
Super Wefts allow you to achieve 1.5x the volume compared to the Elegance Full Wefts so if you want a great boost of volume, Super Wefts could be for you.
If you have thicker hair, Super Wefts may be your perfect option as your hair type is perfect to conceal the density of the weft as well as manage the weight of the hair.
Cons:
Compared to other hair extension methods, Wefts in general can be described as a bulkier method as they can be fit rows, that go around your head. Therefore, these may not be suitable for you if you have finer hair.
If you have very fine hair, due to the increased density and weight, Super Wefts specifically may not be suitable for your hair as there is a high risk that it will cause too much tension on your natural hair.
Remi Cachet Super Weft
Like all of the collection of Elegance Wefts at Remi Cachet, the Super Weft also uses a unique flat weft top which, they lays discreetly to your head and combines lace, adhesive and stitching to avoid return hair and to keep the weft shed-free.
Across this range, you have the choice of five lengths ranging from 16” to 20” with the freedom to choose from a gorgeous collection of 55 colours.

Remi Cachet Elegance Twin Tabs® are a type of weft extension that is designed to be discreet in your natural hair with the injection process that looks like root and hair growth.
Pros:
At the maintenance appointment, these are opened up, the rings are removed and the complete tab pulls away from the hair. This makes it a quick and clean process.
These can also be reapplied to your hair instantly, therefore, reducing your time in the chair.
These are not as bulky as Weft so can be considered if your hair is on the finer side. As always, discuss this with your stylist.
Cons:
Although not as bulky as Wefts, these are larger than some Pre-Bonded hair extensions so a type of extension from Pre-Bonded hair extensions may be more suitable for you if you have finer hair.
Unlike some Pre-Bonded hair extensions and Wefts, these cannot be customised by being cut down so these are not as versatile in comparison.
Remi Cachet Elegance Twin Tabs are for both thick and thinner hair and combine the speed of tape hair with the clean application of rings that sit flat against the head so that the extensions are discreet and less visible.
Across this range, you have the choice of two lengths; 16” and 20” with the freedom to choose from a gorgeous collection of 55 colours. As the hair is from the Elegance range you should expect the hair from the half weft to last up to 12 months when using the correct and recommended aftercare.
Twin Tabs can be a perfect solution to add thickness and colour as illustrated beautifully by @mlthairextensions who used Twin Tabs in colour 2 for this gorgeous look.

How Long Do Weft Hair Extensions Last?
As Wefts are available across several hair ranges, the longevity will differ depending on which range of hair your Weft is from as well as how well you look after it.
It is extremely important to remember that using the correct aftercare and following the right advice significantly influences the longevity of your hair. The ranges can last up to/between the following months…
Additional Lengths Euro Premium range - Up to 3 months
Remi Cachet Elegance- Up to 12 months
Remi Cachet Deluxe - Between 9 to 12 months
Remi Cachet Luxury - Between 6 to 9 months
How Are Weft Hair Extensions Applied & Removed?
The Weft type you chose, will depend on how your stylist applies it and therefore how it is removed. For example, as mentioned, some Wefts use the more traditional machine top weft, so your stylist has an option to apply this in a variety of ways and therefore removal will differ.
Just exactly how your stylist can apply and remove the Weft(s) will be discussed in your consultation.
Always remember that applying and removing your Wefts should always be done by a qualified extensionist and you should never attempt to do this yourself.
What Is The Maintenance For Weft Hair Extensions?
Depending on how quickly your natural hair grows, we say approximately, your Weft (s) should be refitted every 6-8 weeks. However, this is something your stylist will discuss with you further.
