Hair Colours We Expect To Trend In Summer 2023
With summer now in full swing, this is the perfect time for us to talk you through the colours we think are going to make a serious impact this season. So, if you fancy switching up your look for your hot girl summer, cool girl summer, or whatever is trending lately, maybe one of these stunning colours will be perfect for you…
Butterscotch Blonde
Following our 2023 spring trends journal post, we think the stunning Butterscotch Blonde shade will continue to make an impact as the days continue to get lighter and brighter (we hope). A look that can also be known as “Caramel Blonde” is described by Marie Claire as “...the perfect blend of brown and golden hair mixed together”.
Marie Claire has also described it as “the most universal trend of the season” further explaining that “whatever shade you’re rocking now, a caramel hair colour would make it pop even more”.
So why not follow the likes of Kaia Gerber who has opted for this colour recently and make this your look for summer?
How? You may be wondering! Well, you may want to start looking at 6/22 as a start-off point which is a gorgeous chestnut blonde mix shade, perfect for creating those summer sun-kissed tones (if that’s on your wishlist).
Then, like the looks created by @loveweaveextensions and @rougesalon your stylist may want to add in some additional colours to create the perfect combination for this look.
@loveweaveextensions uses colour 4/8 with 6/22.
@rougesalon uses colours 6 and 8 with 6/22.
Soft Brown
The experts have spoken … professional hair magazine Hairdressers Journal has ruled “Soft Girl Brown” as one of Summers 2023’s Hottest Hair Trends. According to stylists at London salon group Live True London, “soft girl brown is a gorgeous natural light-to-mid-brown shade that celebrates natural brunette/brown tones. This trend focuses on warmer-to-neutral brown tones, unlike the cooler mushroom brown trend, to give that soft, natural look.” Gorgeous!
So if you are a brunette and want to switch up your look this summer (even such a minimal change can make a difference) we think this shade could be perfect for you.
We have also started to see this colour appear more across our feed, and adore this look created by @unbeweaveablehairsalon using colour 5, our gorgeous dark ash brown…
We also love this amazing transformation by @hairextensionsbyheather who used colour 4 and colour 5 for the beautiful look...
Balayage
"The Zoe Report" explains that “there’s no denying that summer is the season for highlights. But this year, balayage looks are breaking free from the bleach blonde and ash streaks that previously reigned supreme. With a more natural approach, balayage is signified by tones of soft sable and honey blonde that transition seamlessly from brunette roots”… and we couldn’t agree more.
Like what you hear about balayage? Well, now is your perfect opportunity to switch up your look in what we believe is “the season of balayage”.
Want some inspiration? We’ve got you with the stunning looks created by @goldielockshairextensions and @luxlocksbournemouth.

Natural Copper
It strikes again… but are you even surprised? Red tones have been a feature on our trend blogs for approximately a year now and “natural copper” really shows no sign of slowing down.
Hair colourist Kelly Noonan explains to the online magazine Pure Wow “It’s bold and eye-catching. It also has a dimensional and vibrant look for people who are ready to make a statement this summer”. Sound like you? Here’s your chance…
Here are a couple of our favourite looks with this beautiful colour…
@hairbyjemmacurran uses colour 33.
@alexfhairextensions uses T4-33.
